Assignment #6

Inspired artists:

Hayao Miyazaki

Milford Zornes

“As I looked about em I felt that the grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the colour of winestains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running” -Willa Cather, My Antonia

  1. Amber’s approach to this piece was to recreate a memory she had of her outside with her cat following her. She recreated that image in the style of Hayao Miyazaki. She also had a quote that had a relaxing, free setting which she captured in her piece. The biggest strength of this piece is how closely it resembles Miyazaki’s style with the smooth strokes and a feel as if it had been painted even if it was created digitally. The cat is also in the style of cats that appear in many Miyazaki movies. The only spot that looks like it could use some work is on the shoes, she tried to recreate the feet like how Miyazaki draws feet but they look a little blocky.
